Middle Eastern: Crime Culture & Community
The class explores a broad spectrum of issues that seeks to distinguish the make-up and mind-set of this unique immigrant society. This is not your traditional terrorism or weapons of mass destruction class, but a blend of cultural awareness, experience sharing and criminal intelligence briefings.for cops, from a cop's perspective. The 3-day agenda explores a host of diverse issues ranging from the role of history and religion, the Koran, social interaction, fundamental radicalism, khat & the heroin trade, to the nexus between the community and national and international crime and terrorism. Crimes common within the community are closely examined, as are their criminal characteristics and modus operandi. The influence of the drug trade and fraud schemes are also closely explored with respect to their impact on the community, as well as their link to international criminal cartels and potential funding streams for international terrorism. The class is ideal for patrol officers, latent investigators, school resource officers, gang investigators, intelligence practitioners and correction personnel who engage with members of the Arab community or who seek a broader base of understanding.
